Hello!  We are your hosts, Jae & Jodie Starling.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about us and what we can offer you at our family farm, The Starling Homestead.
We were married here, under the olive trees on the front lawn in 2022.
Relaxed, joyful and intimate, this simple ceremony sparked the idea which has led us to where we are today, sharing our property with others for small country rustic weddings and elopements. ​​​​​

Our backgrounds are as far removed from the wedding industry as you could imagine, Jae works in the civil construction industry - which makes him suitably qualified to take on any of the projects I regularly throw at him.

And I come from the residential construction industry in Wellington, where I spent over a decade helping people design and create their dream homes.

Fun facts about us

• We purchased the farm without me ever having seen it in person, and Jae had only viewed it once. We are the type of people who jump in boots n all.
   

• Jae and I had never technically lived together until we moved to the farm. His job used to have him moving around Aotearoa. So all within a few months we: relocated from Wellington to Christchurch, moved in together, got married, had a baby and started a business! 
   

• Starling is my family surname and Jae did me the absolute honour of taking my name to ensure my family name could continue for future generations.
